Train Pictures

Dumped the pictures from my camera today and came up with two I'd like to share.

A few weeks ago, we took the train ride in Jim Thorpe, PA. For us, that town is a new discovery since relocating to northeastern Pennsylvania. It's a great region for the outdoor enthusiast. The train took us along a the river and tree-covered mountains of Lehigh Gorge State Park. Megan and I are looking forward to someday biking a little of the park. Even sooner, we're looking forward to taking the whole family in a few weeks to enjoy the fall foliage.

There are train tracks across the retention pond behind our house. We don't mind. The train is fairly slow-moving and travels through infrequently. When it does though, it's a big event. It appears to come out of the woods and is quite a fascinating site. It's a big hit with Paige.

I still think "The Black Train" sounds like a mid-'60s Johnny Cash song about either death or his girlfriend up and done gone, a thought only further cemented by the hazy, slightly out-of-focus nature of this shot.
