Jim Thorpe Bike Ride
Megan and I went on a bike ride near Jim Thorpe yesterday. Since Ian's birth, this was the first time we've spent time together without the kids. This was thanks to my parents. The weather was perfect for enjoying Megan's favorite season. Every other weekend this October has been either too cold or rainy. On this particular day, it was sunny and warm. We road on a path under a canopy of trees past babbling brooks and a large lake. Obviously, the Autumn colors were splendid, but what struck us the most was the smells of fallen leaves and wood-burning stoves.
That afternoon reminded me of a bike ride Megan and I took a year ago in New England. At that time, we had to travel far from our Delaware home for her to enjoy Autumn. It was after that trip that Megan first expressed her desire to move. It made me reflect on how much has changed in one year... new location, new job, new kid. I'm happy to report that we are very well settled into this new lifestyle now, and of course, enjoying it very much.

Train Pictures
Dumped the pictures from my camera today and came up with two I'd like to share.
A few weeks ago, we took the train ride in Jim Thorpe, PA. For us, that town is a new discovery since relocating to northeastern Pennsylvania. It's a great region for the outdoor enthusiast. The train took us along a the river and tree-covered mountains of Lehigh Gorge State Park. Megan and I are looking forward to someday biking a little of the park. Even sooner, we're looking forward to taking the whole family in a few weeks to enjoy the fall foliage.
There are train tracks across the retention pond behind our house. We don't mind. The train is fairly slow-moving and travels through infrequently. When it does though, it's a big event. It appears to come out of the woods and is quite a fascinating site. It's a big hit with Paige.
