Today, Megan and I got to play with our new snowboards at Blue Mountain, PA. She did very well and progressed to some slopes with decent pitch. I'm looking forward to dragging her through some steep, powdery big-mountain woods on next year's ski trip. As for myself, I widened my stance by one inch and that made sticking jumps much easier.

We weren't the only ones improving our winter sports skills today. Mary, Alexander and my dad met us there. This was Alexander's second day skiing. He rode the lift today. I saw him ski without support and then stop. It was amazing. I'm also looking forward to dragging him through some steep, powdery big-mountain woods.

Best of all, one of my old winter-sports buddies put on skis for the first time in four years. I'm referring, of course, to my sister Mary. Granted, it was only to train her son on the bunny slope, but it did raise hope that we would see her on next year's ski trip. I'll drag her through some steep, powdery big-mountain woods, too.

It was a fun day, made possible by Barb's and Sheri's volunteer Paige-sitting. Thanks to them, Megan and I also had time for a brief apres-skiing date.
